The Wandering Resident ID system identifies each resident by name, room number, and transmitter ID code. When the exit is approached by a monitored resident, the system will identify the resident by his or her name, lock the door and report the attempted exit to the nurse console. The nurse console will then display the resident's name, room number and the exit location. If several residents attempt to exit, all will be uniquely identified and displayed. The nurse console supervises the entire system and will immediately report any system problems.
Additional security may be provided by programming the system to automatically lock a door during certain hours. This is typically used to secure a facility during the night-time hours.
