Misys Healthcare Systems And excelleRx Streamline Medication Management For Increased Patient Safety
New partnership simplifies hospice data management
Raleigh, NC - Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, and excelleRx, Inc., the market leader in medication management services for niche disease markets, announced a partnership that streamlines hospice patient record management. The relationship unifies hospice and pharmacy electronic patient records to provide more accurate data management and reduce data entry time, which increases patient safety and allows staff to focus on delivering patient care.
Hospices using Misys Homecare software and excelleRx's Xeris software now can enter information into the Xeris system only, where it becomes immediately available to Misys Homecare users. When excelleRx pharmacy staff communicates with hospices, the patient encounter is documented in Misys Homecare and Xeris almost simultaneously, reducing the chances of written transaction errors or mistakes resulting from entering data multiple times. Because of this partnership, hospice nurses do not need to key in medication information, saving considerable time. Nurses now have one complete patient record for on-call staff, team meetings and other hospice reporting needs.
ExcelleRx has integrated its electronic interface, called XerisConnect, with the Misys Homecare solution to create a unified repository for patient demographic and medication information. Agencies using Misys Homecare with excelleRx's bi-directional interface benefit both from immediate access to more comprehensive patient information, and from simplified methodologies for inputting, accessing and disseminating patient data.
"Misys and excelleRx help home health organizations experience better care and fewer medical errors through innovative uses of technology," said Joseph Filippoli, excelleRx's Senior Vice President of IT. "When agencies use Misys Homecare with XerisConnect, their staff can spend less time on system administration and more time caring for patients."
"As we partner with home health and hospice agencies across the country, Misys provides needed information tools that streamline workflow and allow home health staff to meet patient needs and increase care," said Betty Feth, president of Misys Healthcare Systems' Homecare Systems business unit. "Our partnership with excelleRx allows homecare organizations to unify a patient's prescription history in one record, freeing up staff time and reducing the risk of medication-based errors."
