The Vanguard process offers reprocessing of a variety of medical devices such as EP catheters, orthopedic burrs, bits and blades, suture packs and DVT sleeves, as well as coronary angioplasty (PTCA) balloon catheters and other small lumen medical devices. According to the company, medical device reprocessing offers a safe, scientific alternative that can help medical facilities realize as much as a 50% savings over the purchase price of new medical devices.
The process begins the moment a medical facility's medical devices arrive at the company's facilities. A barcode tracking system assigns each shipment a job control number to ensure that all reprocessed devices are returned to the owner medical facility. Each device then begins the following reprocessing procedure:
Cleaning and decontaminationPerformance testing, using thorough visual and functional cross-inspectionsPackagingSterilization, using a proprietary low pressure and temperature cycle of 100% EtO gas
Equipment and protocols comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Quality Systems Regulation (QSR) and International Standards Organization (ISO) requirements.
