Long Term Care Pharmacy Alliance Expands Membership; Members Now Serve Most Of The Nation's Nursing Home Residents

Washington, DC - The Long Term Care Pharmacy Alliance (LTCPA), which has been the nation's leading policy voice for pharmacies which specifically serve nursing home residents since 2001, announced recently that it has expanded its membership to include LTC pharmacy companies that serve most of the nation's 1.8 million nursing home residents living in 47 states.

"LTCPA represents highly specialized pharmacies which specifically serve nursing home residents. The unique nature of long term care pharmacy and the special needs of nursing home residents makes it critical that we speak with a clear, strong, and consensus voice. Especially since the launch of the Medicare Part D prescription drug program, a number of critical policy issues have arisen that tremendously impact on our industry, as well as the nursing homes and residents we serve. With membership that now serves most of the nation's nursing home residents, LTCPA will bring a stronger voice than ever before to these critical issues," said Executive Director Darrell McKigney.

At its December 11th board meeting, LTCPA welcomed new members GeriMed, Inc and Managed Health Care Associates, Inc (MHA). LTCPA's Board of Directors now includes: Joel Gemunder, CEO of Omnicare Inc; Greg Weishar, CEO of PharMerica, Corporation; John Schutte; CEO of GeriMed, Inc; and Doug Present, CEO of Managed Health Care Associates, Inc..
