The Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace is the brace that made functional management practical
The Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace is the brace that made functional management practical. It is versatile with sprains, fractures and chronic instability. The brace is indicated for acute ankle sprain, stable malleolar fractures, post ORIF, distal tib/fib stress fractures, hemiparesis and hemiplegia.

Features include

  • Resists inversion more than taping, yet normal flexion is virtually unrestricted
  • Graduated, pulsating compression "milks away" swelling and edema
  • Aircells are pre-inflated and rarely require adjustment
  • Anatomically contoured shells conform closely to the ankle with minimal bulk in the shoe
  • Durable - guaranteed to last as long as required for the patient
The braces are available in five models. Because of the conformability of the aircells, there is a wide overlap among the models recommended for indication and patient size.

Ankle Brace Model Sizes:

  • Standard (02A): preferred for the acute injury with most adults. It is 10.5" in length, provides the most support and offers the largest area of coverage for the recently injured ankle.
  • Training (02B): preferred for chronic instability with most adults. It is 9" in length and offers support for the patient who has had an injury in the past and continues to suffer chronic ankle problems.
  • Small (02C): preferred for both acute and chronic instability of the ankle. It is 8.7" in length and is intended for adults and young adults who are 5'2" and under.
  • Pediatric (02J): preferred for both acute and chronic instability of the ankle. It is 6" in length and is intended for children.
  • Sports Stirrup (02D): intended for prevention only. It is narrower for less bulk in a regular or high-top athletic shoe. Because malleolar coverage is reduced, it is not for the acute injured ankle.
