About Us

Although the aging of the baby boom generation won't impact the state of Texas fully until approximately 2015, the senior age group is already growing faster than the general population. By the time the largest segment of the baby boom generation reaches retirement age in 2026, almost 23 percent, or one in four Texans, will be 60 or older, compared to the states current 14 percent.

In 1999, about half (52%) of persons 65+ lived in nine states. California had over 3.6 million; Florida 2.7 million; New York 2.4 million; Texas 2.0 million; and Pennsylvania 1.9 million. Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and New Jersey each had well over 1 million. Source: Administration on Aging

As the state of Texas aging population continues to grow, health care and/or lifestyle changes often occur to loved ones, but unfortunately, often with much notice. And although there are many elder care services and resources available to tap into when these needs arise, the problem for many is not knowing they exist, or knowing how to locate them.

Elder Options of Texas is addressing this problem by being the ONLY comprehensive database that specifically concentrates on the state of Texas, listing not only senior housing options, but also geriatric health care resources and care options, community services and outreach programs, senior transportation services, legal & financial information, home maker services, and so much more!

You will find the initial concentration of information featuring the Austin metropolitan areas, including Dripping Springs, Wimberley, San Marcos, Bastrop, Smithville and other surrounding areas. By Spring of 2001, the areas of Georgetown, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Taylor, Marble Falls, Killeen and Temple will be added, with the San Antonio, Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth areas soon to follow.

The type of resources you will find range from adult day care to transportation services, but also including sitter and homemaker services, caregiver support groups, senior activity centers, senior housing options, long term care facilities, in-home care providers, respite care services, congregate meal programs, and so much more!
