From Humble Beginnings...to a Bright Future

Starting with two sales representatives covering a portion of the Midwest, new product samples at the ready and a fresh approach to skin care management, the Original WAFFLE® Brand line was born! With just a cushion and a mattress pad, it may be a stretch to call it a "line". But so effective and well-made were these early products, they proved to be a solid platform for all that would come later.

EHOB, Inc. began operations in 1986.Now EHOB offers throughout the US and the world over 30 high-quality items in a product line that spans not only static air cushions and pads for the wheelchair and hospital bed, but also the operating and emergency room, the pediatric ward, products for the foot, ankle and heel, the geriatric chair, home care use and products for convalescence, hospice use, allergy, back pain, and sleeping comfort. EHOB's WAFFLE® is the fruit of materials research and carefully planned product development designed to serve the needs of the individual patient or large managed care networks.

Made entirely in the USA, EHOB Inc. product technology is in the forefront in static air inflatable products of the highest quality. Behind this success is an understanding of the heat-sealing process to assure product integrity and value. This expertise is being made available to health care companies needing contract sealing services for private label work.

With new products and services, a new plant facility and a growing interest in the benefits of EHOB's static air technology, the WAFFLE® concept that originated ten years ago is gloriously alive, positioned for the future and well suited for the needs of acute and extended care professionals and their patients.

Dr. Spahn Wins Entrepreneur Of The Year Award

James G. Spahn, M.D., F.A.C.S., is chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer of EHOB, Incorporated. He is a practicing surgeon and active in research, teaching, and community work. He is a graduate of Indiana University, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, Clinical Assistant Professor at Indiana University Medical Center, Co-Director of Residency Program in Otolaryngology, a 1975 Fellow of American Board of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery. He is a member of the AMA, ISMA, American Board of Otolaryngology, American Academy of Otolaryngology, American College of Surgeons, American Society for Head and Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Spahn has lectured extensively and given seminar presentations for physicians, enterostomal therapists and skin care specialists regionally, nationally, and internationally. he has presented and published numerous papers on soft tissue, surgery and CT Scan evaluation, conducted several original research and continuing research projects, and authored a number of important U.S. and international patents. Although his scholarly pursuits are admirable no doubt, that's not what makes him so interesting.

As an ear, nose, and throat surgeon (ENT), Dr. Spahn would commonly scribble "E.H.O.B." on his patient's chart upon their discharge from the hospital. This meant they should go home and recuperate, while "elevating head of bed" with pillows to reduce swelling and stop bleeding. In 1986, Dr. Spahn only briefly considered the notion of searching for a medical product manufacturer or distributor from whom he could purchase this needed positioning device, but instead, he did what every entrepreneur would do: He set out to make his own.

Dr. Spahn's original challenge was to create a simple, inflatable wedge placed at the head of the bed. Dr. Spahn later created an inflatable hospital bed that cushions and anatomically positions the entire body.

Contract Manufacturing Capabilities
